The word “aeraulic” is of Greek origin, from the nouns ἀήρ, ἀέρος (= air) and αὐλός, οῦ (= tube, flute). Thus, literally, aeraulic systems can be defined as those devices which consist of “tubes carrying air”.
The UNI 10339:1995 standard identifies aeraulic devices “as a set of equipment, appliances, accessories and control systems required to achieve the desired air quality in fixed conditions”.
Aeraulic devices are therefore all those systems which guarantee a particular air quality in an indoor environment, in terms of heat, humidity, purity, quantity and movement of the same.
The main functions performed by aeraulic systems are:
aimed at achieving air quality (in terms of quantity, quality, and speed of the same) and the required thermo-hygrometric characteristics;
aimed at achieving air quality (in terms of quantity, quality, and speed of the same) and the required thermal characteristics, excluding humidity control;
aimed at achieving air quality (in terms of quantity, quality, and speed of the same), excluding thermal and humidity control.

This kind of certification is awarded after passing a tough certification exam where the ASCS candidate has to reach a required level of reliability and skill, showing that they have the required skills for the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) systems remediation sector, knowledge of NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaners Association) procedures, and safety standards pertaining to this kind of work.
The ASCS certification is issued by NADCA and not only demonstrates professional development, but it is also an international qualification which demonstrates that the professional has the relative skills and competence for HVAC system hygiene.
